Fredericksburg is famous for its historic town center, full of all colonial and civil war historic buildings and churches. It was the childhood home of George Washington, and later the site of major battles during the the Civil War. The historic district near the Rappahannock River has over 350 18th/19th century buildings, all easily explorable by roaming around the pretty central street.
