USA/FL: Everglades National Park – Airboat Cruising

Summer is arguably not the best time to visit the Everglades National Park – it’s not just too hot, but also the water levels are too high and most alligators spent time in water and deeper to the bottoms. Still, the must-do thing here is to take an airboat tour and slides of the slow-flowing river that is the Everglades (the entire Everglades system is really a river flowing from the Lake Okeechobee and into the Caribbean at river flowing 0.25 miles (0.40 km) per day. The national park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The airboat glides just above the water on many of the channels of the Everglades, sometimes just going above grass. Here and there, alligators swim by, absolutely uninterested in tourists.
