USA/ME: West Quoddy Head Lighthouse
West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is located on the tip of the West Quoddy Head, the easternmost point of the United States. The lighthouse was built here in 1808 and painted into a very distinctive red and white stripe pattern, and is one of the most picturesque and most photographed lighthouses in the entire USA, it has been featured on several postal stamps and is often used as one of the symbols of Maine. The lighthouse and the former keeper’s house are clinging to a cliff edge with the view of the Quoddy Narrows separating USA and Canada. And as a bonus, you can stay at the Quaddy Lighthouse Station on the peninsula, just steps away from the lighthouse.
