USA/MS: Jackson – Mississippi State Capitol

There are two Capitol buildings in Jackson, the capital of Mississippi. The original Capitol building dates to 1839, while the new one was constructed in 1903, crowned by 180-foot dome roof with a 15-foot eagle coated in gold leaf. The entire Complex is massive and quite reminiscent of the one in Washington DC. It stands on a central promontory hill and is visible from every possible direction in town.
