USA/NJ: Jersey City – Liberty State Park

Liberty State Park is located on the mainland right across from the Liberty Islands (with the Statue of Liberty) and Ellis Islands in New York harbor. The park has a stupendous view of the Manhattan skyline, perhaps the best one, all along the Hudson River promenade. Another major attraction here is the Empty Sky Memorial dedicated to September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center – a beautiful and elegant monument meant to resemble the two fallen towers – very somber and evocative. Also in the Liberty State Park is the old New Jersey Railroad Terminal, built in 1889, that operated for commuters until 1967 – this was the first entry point for million of immigrant who came to America through Ellis Island – 10.5 million people stepped on the American mainland soil here for the first time, in pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
