USA/TX: Marshall – Old Harrison County Courthouse

The Old Harrison County Courthouse is an iconic landmark located in Marshall, Texas, and is often considered one of the most beautiful historic buildings in the state and a symbol of East Texas. Built in 1901, this historic courthouse is a fine example of Romanesque Revival architecture, Its distinctive features include a clock tower, intricate stone carvings, and a domed roof. Marshall and Harrison County were important centers of the confederate US and the country has the highest number of slaves off all counties in Texas, all mostly working in cotton plantation. The wealth of the county and city was a direct of slave labor and the cotton market.
