USA/UT: Goosenecks State Park (Revisited)
At Goosenescks State Park, the San Juan River twists into multiple U-shaped turns over a short path, presenting a stunning overview from high above. The river has carved out a deep canyon of over 1000 feet from the rim to the bottom, where the water twists six times changing route 180 degrees each time. Supposedly, the exposed 1000 feet constitute the world record for exposed time in a geological formation – there are about 300 millions years of rock strata exposed here. There is not much to do at this park but stand on the canyon rim and be amazed at the gorse and power of Mother Nature.
