Venezuela: Mt Roraima – Roraima Parakeets

Most of the fauna and flora on top of Mount Roraima exists only here and nowhere else in the world (that WAS the premise of Arthur Conan Doyle’s “Lost World”). Mount Roraima Parakeet (Nannopsittaca panychlora) is one of the endemic species here, the colorful little parrots make nests just on the edge of the cliffs above the abyss. They are very difficult to spot except when in flight, and it was sheer luck spotting a couple so close.
