Vietnam: La Pan Lagoon
Moving south from Hue on the way to Danang, you Pass an absolutely incredible landscape of the La Pan Lagoon. The Lagoon is the brackish sea water between the land strip of the Lăng Co Bay on one side and the green mountains of the coastal Bahn Ma range. Stunning landscape and it is also a unique place where a different local species of Lăng Co oysters is grown. All around the lagoon, there are tiny fishing boats, oyster nets, old bicycle rubber tires that oysters are grown in (used to be bamboo but rubber disintegrates much slower in water), and fishermen. Oysters were awesome – small but juicy and fresh (although I later read that tires produced really bad chemicals that oysters absorb….)
