Vietnam: Hue – Thien Mu Pagoda

Thien Mu is a seven-story pagoda that is considered to be the symbol of Hue. It actually is located slightly outside the city, along the high bank of the Perfume River with panoramic views over the river bend and beyond. The pagoda dates back to 1601, when the local Nguyen lords were just a local independent fiefdom, long before they rose to unify and rule Vietnam as emperors. Best seen as tinder when the glowing red highlights the southwest-facing pagoda features.
