Vietnam: Phong Nha NP – Nuoc Nut Cave
Now for some real cave exploration. Nuoc Nut Cave is part of a 2day/1night adventure where you also explore a rather technical Hang Va cave. Nuoc Nut was discovered in 2009, it requires a steep descent down a limestone cliff of impenetrable limestone jungle (leaches everywhere), before an entrance to the cave appears in front of you. Yogou put on helmets on go on exploring the giant halls and narrow passageways with many wet stalactite and stalagmites and a lot of rock climbing. You walk knee deep in water in most places and the cave is totally “wild” – no light and no cement pathways – so your helmet light and guide’s lights are all you got to illuminate the stuff and take pictures – fantastic photo ops abound!
