Zambia: Happy Leopard Family

Leopards are usually solitary. But there is always an exception – for two nights at the Bilimungwe Bushcamp I was able to watch a leopard family of three (male, female, and a cub) dine on a fresh impala kill in the tree. The male killed an adult large impala and dragged it high up into the tree. And then a female and cub (clearly the male’s mate and kid) joined him for the feast. Typically. male leopards are defensive about their kill, but this one clearly was happy to share with his kid and “wife”. It was beyond amazing observing the adults interact with each other and see the inquisitive cub play and interact with both parents.
