Mexico/Campeche: Coastal Campeche
Instead of going the standard route into Campeche, one can opt for a waterfront drive that goes through a series of bridges and islands right in front of the Bahia de Campeche on one side and the Laguna de Terminos (one of the world’s largest tidal lagoons) on the other. While there aren’t many attraction here, it’s just miles and miles of empty beaches, not really swimmable and water somewhat brackish. And all along the road there are tiny fishing villages where you can sample dirt cheap fresh seafood from the bay.
