Micronesia: Walking Fish & More

These tropical mudskippers spend a majority of their lives out of the water, “walking on earth” (more like crawling in mud). They use their pectoral fins to pull and push themselves, they can even climb rocks and mangrove trunks. They can rest on solid ground and do some “push-ups”. They can breathe air through their skin and mouth. And there were more bizarre animals in the mangrove jungle around Nan Madol ruins (previous post) – look at the crabs and the colorful lizards (skinks to be exact).
