Nagorno-Karabakh: Askeran Fortress

Askeran in a 17th century fortress west of Stepanakert and close to the de facto border of Nahorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan. The fortress is a massive stone structure that occupies the top and bottom of the hill – it’s not very well maintained and rather overgrown which makes for a more Tombraider experience. Some sections are reminiscent of the Great Wall China.
