Amazonas: Janauari Ecological Park
Janauari Ecological Park is not far from Manaus (about an hour by boat) and is an opportunity to see the famous Amazon giant lily pads. Unfortunately, during the high water season, most lily pads die and shrink as there is too much oxygen in the water. Still I got to see quite a few enormous leaves, almost 2m/6ft in diameter. But also there were tons of endemic wildlife as well – from the rare squirrel monkeys to capucin monkeys to giant iguanas and exotic birds.
