Argentina: Pehuen Co Monte Hermoso Natural Reserve

On the shores of the Atlantic, Pehuen Co Monte Hermoso Natural Reserve – a geological and paleontological site, preserving a variety of prehistoric fauna and flora remains imprinted in the coastal rocks. Most of the paleontological remains are about 16,000 years old, spread over 3km along the beach here – thousands of tracks of extinct animals (megatheres, mastodons, macrouquenias, glyptodonts, bears, etc.) imprinted and fossilized on the rocks. But besides this, it’s a picturesque and desolate gray sand beach with lots of wading birds, and a gentle surf with panoramic views.
