Australia: Canberra

Canberra is the capital of Australia, specifically built and designed as such. It was chosen as an alternative to Sydney and Melbourne and lies in the middle in the ACT – Australian Capital Territory. Kind of similar to Brasilia – it’s designed with a lot of green spaces and geometric shape architecture. It’s all pretty spread out, not really walkable on foot, somewhat bland and outdated to be honest. There is the new parliament with iconic bare poles design and there is an old parliament with the Museum of Australian democracy. In front of the old parliament are several shacks and booth with protesting aboriginal Australians. Then there is a lake with a fountain and a lot of administrative buildings, all super dull and uninteresting. Just like Washington, Canberra is packed with museums, monuments, and government vehicles.
