Australia: Canberra – Telstra Tower

Like many tall TV tower in other cities around the world, Telstra Tower is the icon of Canberra. It stands in top of a mountain overlooking the city, and rises to 195 m (640 ft) above the mountain summit. And pretty much like everything in Canberra, it seems to have been futuristic when it was built in the 80s, but looks like an abandoned cement block now. Occasional tourists pay $7 Australian to go up to the open air viewing platform for some mildly depressing views of Canberra in the distance and dry forest around.
