Bosnia & Herzegovina: Pocitelj- Stari Grad

This wasn’t in any guidebooks and didn’t come up in my research. And it’s easily a top 3 place in the entire trip – a fully-intact 15th century fortress/castle/walled city set on a hill top high above the river. No tours, it’s free, it’s not maintained, and it’s just incredible. Turreted towers you can climb, perfectly preserved (sans some graffiti), miles of stone walls all around, a mosque within the ancient city (built later), and just awesome views. How this place is not an absolutely major attraction – I have no idea!
