Canada/Quebec: Montreal – Old Montreal

Old Montreal is the historic core of the city, dating back to the 17th century, with cobblestone streets and squares, and plenty of historic building from the last three centuries. Major focal points include the Place d’Armes plaza with the massive Notre-Dame Basilica, Rue Saint-Paul – the oldest street in the city, Place Jacques-Cartier square with the Nelson’s Column and rows of restaurants, City Hall, Old Palace of Justice, and Chateau Ramezay. Next to the old port is Bonsecours Market aka Marché Bonsecours, which is now more of a souvenir and artisanal center then a marketplace.
