Canada/AB: Banff NP – Spruce Grouse

Let’s do one post for the birds (although I am not a birder I think). Spruce grouse (aka Canadian grouse) is a fairly large non-migratory game bird that lives in the arboreal forests in northern North America. They rely on their camouflage to hide away from predators. They are the size of a chicken. As is the case with all other wildlife in Jasper and Banff National Parks – the hunting is illegal – and the animals don’t fear humans at all. A massive contrast to the Nunavut where all animals and birds are being hunted to oblivion.
