Egypt: Cairo – Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum (The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities) is one of the largest archeological museums in the world and has an extensive collection of pharaonic items from all dynasties. 120k items are on display with the same amount in storage. Tombs, mummies, animal mummies, statues, clothing, jewelry, more mummies – it’s all here. The most impressive and stunning is the complete Tutankhamen tomb – several tombs in fact, one inside the other, culminating with one made of solid gold and the mask inside, also solid gold. No photography allowed inside the museum, you leave you camera at lockers before getting in (the masks and interior pictures are not mine).
