El Salvador: Lake Suchitlan & Los Tercios Waterfall

Los Tercios Waterfall is a small waterfall on a high outcrop not far from Suthitoto and with a beautiful panorama of Lake Suchitlan. The waterfall is actually flowing over some columnar basalt rocks, a relative rarity in El Salvador, but heavy water flow prevented us from seeing the actual rock formation. The views of Lake Suchitlan were superb however, it is the largest body of water in Salvador, formed in 1973 with the construction of Cerron Grande Hydroelectric Dam.
