Ethiopia: Agricultural Landscape of Northern Ethiopia

Ethiopia is known for its diverse agricultural landscapes, and the region surrounding Gondar is agriculturally productive, with many small farmers growing crops such as teff (that goes into making injera), barley, wheat, and more. The traditional method of farming in Ethiopia, which is still practiced today, is called “terracing,” where farmers create terraced fields on the sides of hills and mountains to make the most of the limited arable land. Everything is done by hand.
