Ethiopia: Southern Nations – Hamar People

And the last but most certainly not the least of the Omo Valley tribes – Hamar People. This tribe is on every tourist group’s circuit since the people and villages are photogenic, there is not “per picture” insanity, and the tribe has very unique traditions – like bull running manhood initiation. Hamar are pastoralist and semi-nomadic, so everything revolves around cattle which is considered the sign of wealth. Women have braided hair with clay-color additives in them. The tourists swarm Hamar, so they are quite used to them and oblivious to all the white people with cameras.
