Italy: Florence – Duomo’s Belltower

The Florence Cathedral complex includes a freestanding belltower better known as Giotto’s Campanile. The beautiful thin rectangular tower goes up 85 meters/278 feet high. The exterior design is similar to that of the cathedral – white marble with green and pink encrustations. It’s a long and exhausting climb up all the steps to the top of the tower but the view and headbutting all the ceilings is definitely worth the spectacular panoramic view of the city of Florence.
