Malaysia: Malacca – Malacca Straits Mosque

The Malacca Straits Mosque was built in 2006 and is supposed to be the most beautiful mosque in the country, standing on an artificial island at sea and appearing floating on water. The minaret actually serves as a lighthouse as well. Architecturally, it is supposed to have both middle eastern and Malay influences. The mosque is pretty, but already showing a lot of signs of wear and tear. Non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the praying hall and nobody is allowed to approach the mosque in shorts.
