Moldova: Chisenau

Chisenau is the capital of Moldova, but it certainly feels more like a provincial regional center in the former USSR then a European capital city. Trafficy, disorganized, architecturally disastrous with very few attractions. There is a pretty Metropolitan Cathedral with a Belltower, and the Triumph Arch nearby, several boxy Soviet-style government buildings, a couple nice green parks with a lot of sculptures and monuments in them, including the one to king Stephan. A lot of new construction looks like glass and cement boxes that are neither appealing to the eye nor fitting into the cityscape. Off all the attractions in Moldova, Chisinau is probably the most skippable.
