Mongolia: Ulaanbaatar – Sukhbaatar Square

Sukhbaatar Square is the central square in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia,. It’s named after Damdin Sukhbaatar, a national hero of Mongolia who played a key role in the country’s independence struggle from China. The square is a cultural and political hub. Located on the northern side of the square, is the State Great Khural (Mongolia’s parliament), a grand and opulent structure adorned with column and Genghis Khaan statues. At the center of the square stands an equestrian statue of Damdin Sukhbaatar. Other building surrounding the square have more old Soviet style and feel – the Palace of Culture, Mongolian Stock Exchange, Prime Minister’s Office, Sukhbaatar’s Mausoleum, National History Museum, and much more.
