Myanmar: Bagan – Sulamani Temple

Sulamani is another major temple in Bagan. Built in 1183, the temple is a square building with four central Buddhas facing each way. Much more interesting are the amazing 1000-year old frescos adorning the wall, many in the stunningly good condition, depicting scenes from Buddha life, many elephants, and fairy tale creatures. The temple has a distinct Indiana Jones feel to it, as you roam it’s dark passageway and dimply lit rooms with Buddhas and kneeling worshippers.
