Myanmar: Bagan – Dhammayangyi Temple

Dhammayangyi Temple is the largest temple in Bagan. In 1167 King Naraghu ascended the throne after assassinating his older brother. To atone for his sins, he built the largest temple in the Pagan kingdom. The king himself was assassinated before the construction was complete by Sinhalese invaders. The temple is atmospherics and very dark, with tiny windows shining rays of light on Buddha statues.
