Nicaragua: Granada – Granada Cathedral

Granada Cathedral aka Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, is undoubtedly the architectural centerpiece of the colonial city of Granada. The original cathedral was built in 1525, and went through mill tile reconstruction iterations, until a massive current structure was finished in 1972, totaling nearly 40 thousand square feet, prominently standing on the main Granada Central Park square. A must do here is to climb one of the bell towers for the panoramic views of the entire town and the Mombacho volcano nearby, just don’t ring the bells accidentally!
