Nicaragua: Lago Nicaragua and Isla Ometepe
Lago Nicaragua is the largest lake in Central America and 19th largest in the world. In the middle of the lake lies a volcanic island Isla Ometepe. The island, shaped as a figure eight hourglass, has two large and perfectly conical volcanoes rising on it – Volcan Concepcion and Volcan Maderas, both active. Fantastic panoramic views of the lake, the island, and the volcanoes can be had on a clear (and windy) day from the lake’s western shores.
