Okinawa: Cape Manzamo

Okinawa is the land of the early middle age Ryukyu kingdoms and some grand castles built around the 13-14th centuries. Many of them, including the most restored one – Shuri – are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Shuri Castle was the imperial seat and the administrative center of the kingdom for 450 years. The castle was almost completely destroyed multiple times – first during the Japanese annexation and then again during the WWII battles for Okinawa. It’s now restored to the old grandeur – ornate building and gates, and massive thick walls sitting high above the city of Naha with panoramic views.
