Peru: Marasha Reserve & Lodge

About an hour upstream on the Amazon lies a pristine natural reserve on an inland lake – Marasha Natural Reswrve. This is part of the Peruvian Amazon. Once you land on the Amazon River bank with a speedboat, you switch for a smaller motorboat that takes you another half an hour into the jungle via a series of channels that connect to an absolutely stunning lake. The Marasha Lodge is simple, but very picturesque, half-floating on the lake and half standing in stilts (being constantly flooded by expanding and contracting Amazon levels.
