Senegal: Dakar – Museum of African Arts

The Dakar Museum of African Arts (aka Musée Théodore Monod d’Art Africain) is one of rue oldest museums in West Africa, established in 1938. The museum has an extensive collection of west African cultural artifacts, like masks, idols, musical instruments, clothing, and more masks. The first president of Senegal, Léopold Senghor,, was a big promoter of the museum (when the country became independent in the 1960s).
