Thailand: Ayutthaya – Wat Si Sanphet & Wat Phra Ram
Two more UNESCO listed temple ruins at Ayutthaya. The first one, Wat Phra Si Sanphet (Temple of the Holy Splendid Omniscient) is the holiest and grandest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace in Ayutthaya and is truly spectacular. The centerpiece are three magnificent bell-shaped chedi (stupas). Just across the road is another temple – Wat Phra Ram – is built in the Khmer architectural style and resembles Angkor Wat. You can climb half way up the main tower.
