Thailand: Hat Yai – Wat Hat Yai Nai Temple

Wat Hat Yai Nai Temple on the outskirts of Hat Yai is famous for one of the world’s largest statues of reclining Buddhas – 35m long (supposedly 3rd largest in the world but these Buddhas keep popping up all around Asia – its “who can build a bigger Buddha competition going on). The temple was built in the 1917 as part of a Buddhist monastery, the building housing the statue actually has no walls. Elaborate decorations, carving, statues, and lots of color and gold adorn all the structures.
