Thailand: Sukhotai – Sukhotai Historical Park

Moving to the central Thailand… Sukhotai was the capital of the first kingdom on the territory of the present-day Thailand in the 13-14th century. Sukhotai literally means “dawn of happiness”. The historical complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site, covers a vast territory which used to be the kingdoms capital with temples, palaces, and ruins. The city walls form a rectangle about 2×2 km, containing 193 ruins. Canals and moats run around all these artificial lakes full of blooming lotus flowers.
