Thailand: Sukhotai – Wat Si Sawai Temple

Wat Si Sawai is the oldest temple in Sukhotai and differs significantly from the rest of the ruins. Built in the 12th century, it resembles in many way the Cambodia Angkor Wat with three prangs (towers) built in Khmer style. Originally, the temple was built as a Hindu shrine worshiping Vishnu, but later adapted to the Buddhist beliefs with the stucco decorations reflecting traditional Buddhism characters.
