Timor Leste: Roadside Markets
There are plenty of small markets or even roadside stands selling fresh vegetables and fruits – Timorese diet is vegetarian for the most part, meat is very rare. Sweet potatoes, small breadfruits, taro, peppers, ginger and other roots, leaf vegetables of all types and sizes – all in perfect display and arrangement. The tangerines are insanely sweet here and grown everywhere, as is guava. And all this for around a $1 or less (UN made Timor Leste use USD after independence which lately has been a depressing factor for the country as Australian tourism just fell off the cliff).
