Tuamotu/Tikehau: From The Air

Returning to the most beautiful island group in the world – Tuamotus! The entire archipelago consists of coral atolls, circles and ovals of sand surrounding beautiful lagoons. Tikehau is the Island I didn’t get to see on the previous visit, this smaller atoll is roughly oval-shaped with 27 km (17 mi) in circumference and 19 km (12 mi) in diameter. The reef itself is almost continuous all around with only one small entrance pass near the main village. Otherwise, it’s dozen and dozens of small motu islets connected by shallow passes and a wall of external reef. Looks absolutely spectacular from the air!
