Uruguay: Punta Ballena

Punta Ballena is one of the most photographed points along the Uruguayan coast – a promontory jutting into the ocean and often the spot to watch southern right whales migrating by. One of the other attractions here is the futuristic white-washed Casapieblo Citadel, designed by the sculptor Palez Villaro, who built a weird-looking Gaudi-like abode on the cliffs, then added a couple for his friends, and eventually it grew to large complex, a museum and resort these days.
