USA/CA: Golden Gate Bridge

Just like the Statue of Liberty in NYC and the White House in Washington DC, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is the iconic American landmark that always gets the brunt of destruction in every apocalyptic alien invasion and natural disaster movie (plus the Planet of the Apes escape from the city, plus the Final Destination movies, and so on). The bridge was designed in 1917 and is recognized as one of the architectural wonders of the world. The suspension bridge is about 1.7 mi (2.7 km) long, and 220 ft (67.1 m) above the water at high tide. Golden Gate Bridge is the most photographed site in the San Francisco and the entire west coast with its elegant red frame structure contrasting against the shimmering city and the blue water, and quite often shrouded in dense fog and low lying clouds.
