USA/NE: Scott’s Bluff National Monument

Scott’s Bluff is a prominent landmark rising 800 feet high in western Nebraska, this is one of the first hills leading eventually to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. As such, the bluff served as the guidepost for countless caravans and expeditions going to the America’s west in the 19th century along the Pioneer Trail and Mormon Trail, where thousands and thousands of settlers, prospectors, explorers, fur traders, missionaries, and military passed on their westward journeys.
