Zanzibar: House of Wonders

House of Wonders is the largest and tallest building in the Stone Town and was built by the Sultan of Zanzibar in the 17th century as one of his six royal palaces. The building is also known as Palace of Wonders of Beit-al-Ajaib and now houses the museum of Zanzibar featuring many exhibits on the Zanzibar history and it’s blend of Suahili and Arab cultures. A full size mtepe boat stands on the first floor, while the rest of the building houses various artifacts, old cars, guns, and very ornate doors.
