Boliva: Copacabana – Mercado Modelo Market

The marketplace in Copacabana is small (just like the town itself) but very colorful and authentic. The central covered building houses a circular set of stalls with vegetables and meat (no need for refrigeration at this altitude and cold air), while the streets radiating from it have many ladies in colorful dresses and Bolivian round top hats sitting on the ground and selling small batches of potatoes and greens and some small fish (not much can grow and be produced in the inhospitable Antiplano). Whether it was the cold air or the altitude or just being in Bolivia – but everybody looked somewhat grim and unhappy.
