Bulgaria: Varna – Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral
Varna Cathedral, or the Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral as is it’s full name, is the second largest cathedral in Bulgaria, built in 1886. The massive building (currently completely under restoration) stands a bit out of the city-center on a spot specifically chosen on hill so as to be visible from all over Varna. The interior is very richly decorated with frescoes and gold.
