Denmark: Odense

Odense is the third largest city in Denmark, dating back to 988 AD. The old town has a lot of historic architecture, some nearly 1000 years old. There are several spectacular churches like Sankt Knuds Kirke from 1081, Sankt Hans Kirke from 1205 with amazing interior (which we explored in detail), and also spectacular Sankt Alban Kirke from 1908, a beautiful Neogothic slender structure. But there’s much more here, like the spectacular and ornate Odense City Hall, and the Odense Palace, and the Odense Theater. Finally, this is the town that Hans Christian Anderson was born in, and there is a museum and a statue attesting to this.
